Bastian Thurneysen

Bastian Thurneysen areas of expertise are national and international tax law. He advises groups of companies, small and medium enter-prises and start-ups on all tax law issues, in particular on mergers and acquisitions, financing, reorganizations and employee participation plans. In addition, he advises on tax issues in the crypto area and advises private clients in all tax matters. One of Bastian Thurneysen’s are-as of expertise is tax litigation, in particular in the area of international tax administrative assistance.

As co-author of iusNet Steuerrecht, Bastian Thurneysen is always informed about the latest case law in tax law and advises his clients efficiently and practically. He is a member of the Basel Bar Association, the Swiss Bar Associa-tion and ExpertSuisse. Bastian Thurneysen studied at the University of Basel and graduated-ed in 2011 with a master’s degree in law.

He completed legal internships at a medium-sized business law firm in Zurich, the Tax Court of Basel-Landschaft and the Civil Court of Basel-City and was admitted to the bar in 2014. From 2014 to 2021, he worked in the tax department of a large commercial law firm in Zurich. In 2018, he obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Cape Town in international tax law and in 2020 the diploma as a Swiss certified tax expert.
