The lawyers in charge of a mandate will work with younger employees and specialists on the mandate for partial aspects, as required, in order to optimize costs for our clients. As far as the issue allows it, a case is completely handled by younger employees. The responsibility towards the client is always borne by the person in charge of the mandate.

As a principal, we bill on a time spent basis. The hourly rates of our specialists vary depending on their experience.
Normally, we bill our services on a monthly basis. Quarterly billing can be agreed upon. For transactions, advances may be required; the final invoice is issued after completion of the transaction.
For expenses such as telephone costs, postage, envelopes, etc., a fixed flat fee of 4% of the net invoice amount (i.e. before VAT) is charged.

Our 3 notaries in the Basel office have a notarization and certification authority limited to the Canton of Basel-Stadt, i.e. the notarizations and certifications must take place in the canton of Basel.
In our Zurich office, one colleague holds the notarial patent of the Canton of Zurich.
All matrimonial and inheritance law documents (marriage and inheritance contracts, wills, advance directives) can be notarized at our office, regardless of the domicile of the parties.
Also all corporate transactions (incorporations, capital increases, capital decreases, amendments to the articles of association, mergers, etc.) of all companies domiciled in Switzerland can be notarized by our notary’s office in Basel.
Real estate contracts (purchase agreements, pledge agreements, easements, land charges) may only be notarized by our notary’s office if the real estate in question is located in the Canton of Basel-Stadt (exception: preliminary contracts). On the other hand, our notaries can also use their expertise to advise on real estate transactions outside of the canton.
Our efficient notarization team organizes notarizations, over-notarizations or apostilles at the client’s request.

In principle, the notarial tariff of the Canton of Basel-Stadt applies. Where the tariff leaves the notaries some discretion or where the notary tariff does not apply, the hourly rates are applied.

Our corporate and notarial team assists our clients in organizing the corporate meetings to be held.
We prepare invitations as well as minutes of board meetings, meetings of the management as well as general meetings and keep the registers such as share register or register of beneficial owners.
We act as independent representative as well as the secretary of a meeting.
We undertake and prepare all applications for registration in the Commercial Register.
We offer domicile to companies domicile and act as corporate bodies of companies.

burckhardt’s litigation team conducts litigation in all areas of law.
The cooperation of the litigation team with specialists in other fields (e.g. employment law or liability law) guarantees the optimal protection of our clients’ interests.
We also conduct arbitration proceedings and act as arbitrators.

Yes, burckhardt is a member of the self-regulatory organization (SRO) Polyreg. Therefore we also offer services as e.g. trustee, depository or representative towards bank.
